We try to water the tree on Sunday, when there’s not quite as much foot traffic, but a lot of competition with trash. For some reason, people put their trash bags on the dirt around the tree. So on Sunday we carry the trash bags away and down the street.

Not quite so easy when someone locks their bike to the tree. It’s actually illegal, according to 311, but we call it just plain mean. You can see in this picture that Ramón has kept his bike a safe distance from the tree (Anne photographing). Thanks, Ramón.
